As a Fire Sprinkler Designer at Ignis Building Solutions, you will be a key player in our mission to ensure safety and protection. You will work in a dedicated team specializing in Fire Protection Design & Consulting to help our clients make informed decisions to meet applicable regulating codes and standards. Your role will be pivotal in assisting clients with system designs, surveys, site visits, and consulting, and your expertise will be crucial in the specification and tender development, witness testing, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and industry standards.

As a member of Ignis Building Solutions, you will:

  • Be part of a professional team interacting with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and industry organizations to assess sprinkler and standpipe systems

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and provide timely updates to the Design Manager

  • Deliver excellent customer service and provide professional support and solutions

  • Adhere to relevant codes and standards, including the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, ULC Standards, NFPA, and engineering best practices

  • Be proficient in HydraCAD and HydraCALC, with up-to-date continuing education credits with CASA or NFPA

  • Work remotely from your own home-based office, and gain experience on the road travelling to client sites

As a Fire Protection Sprinkler Designer, you will:

  • Review assigned projects and identify information gaps

  • Design fire protection systems from conception to final inspection

  • Develop system drawings and calculations using HydraCAD and HydraCALC or HASS

  • Prepare IFC and As-Built drawings based on client data and site visits

  • Conduct pre-design site surveys and hydrant flow tests

  • Perform Fire Pump testing and commissioning

  • Attend client meetings and provide on-site coordination

  • Communicate project status to senior management

  • Manage multiple schedules and priorities

  • Collaborate with technical contractors

  • Conduct compliance reviews and audits

  • Work closely with stakeholders, including authorities having jurisdiction

  • Assemble and submit building permit documentation

  • Travel within the GTHA for site visits and meetings

  • Participate in training and development

All you need is:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Seneca’s Fire Protection Engineering Technology program or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years in the fire sprinkler industry, with knowledge of Inspection Test Maintenance, Full System, and Partial Verification

  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, HydraCALC, and related software

  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and time management abilities

  • Flexible, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and grow

  • Located within the GTHA

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License Class G and willingness to travel
