The Junior Fire Protection and Safety Consultant will be a part of a dedicated team that specializes in navigating the complex field of Fire Prevention and Life Safety, enabling our clients to make informed decisions and meet regulatory requirements for safety. You will play a pivotal role in assessing and identifying a clients’ ability to meet with relevant codes and industry standards of fire prevention and safety in their building and properties.
As a member of Ignis Building Solutions, you will:
Be a part of a professional team, interacting with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, industry organizations and standards to assess and assist in all aspects of Fire & Life Safety
Work on multiple projects simultaneously and provide timely updates on each one for the team
Provide excellent customer service, professional support and solutions to customers
Ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards, including Building Code, Fire Code, ULC Standards, NFPA, and Engineering best practices
Develop your expertise and intimate knowledge of building & fire code regulations, system surveys, assessments and designing fire safety programs.
As a Fire Protection and Safety Consultant, you will:
Conduct fire and life safety inspections, risk assessments, and site visits for various building types
Develop and facilitate Fire Warden Training Programs and Fire Drills for clients
Analyze and interpret fire protection codes and standards to provide accurate guidance
Assess client needs for emergency equipment, planning, procedures, and training
Support design and review processes through pre-design site surveys for fire protection systems
Collaborate with senior consultants to develop fire safety plans and emergency response procedures
Ability to work a project from start to finish
Participate in site inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations
Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to fire safety assessments and system evaluations
Foster positive client relationships and maintain strong client rapport
Work closely with all stakeholders, including contractors, architects, consultants, building owners, and local building officials to ensure the continued success of all assigned projects
Keep abreast of industry trends, advancements, and best practices in fire protection and safety
All you need is:
A post secondary diploma in Seneca’s 2 – 3-year Fire Protection Engineering Technology program or equivalent
A minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in the fire prevention industry, with knowledge of Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Life Safety Systems, code consulting, health and safety, and developing Fire Safety Plans
A minimum of 2 years experience with AutoCAD or equivalent software is required
In depth knowledge of fire prevention codes, fire protection principles, regulations and standards, and industry best practices
Sound technical knowledge in building plan reviews using a fire safety lens
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and reporting skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
A valid Ontario Drivers Licence Class G and a willingness to travel to client sites as required.
